Q1. A public sector bank is currently striving to differentiate itself from the private sector banks’ which are its immediate competition. The customers at the bank complain about the employees who are not informed about each customer's account information, needs, preferences, and interaction history. The bank has been unable to cultivate more profitable relationships with the customers which has impacted its growth. The bank’s inability to proactively identify non-performing assets, has attributed to further losses.

On the other hand, the private sector banks strive to gain insights in to the customer preferences which enable them to serve their customers better. As a manager of the public sector bank, elaborate on how you would use touch points such as mobile, web and social networking sites, to acquire, retain and create lasting relationships with the customers? Q2. ABC is India’s first and largest food technology business which was established in 2011. The company’s forte lies in speedy and seamless delivery of quality food, high in taste. ABC technologically operates on all the three important aspects of a ‘Food on Demand’ business, viz. Ordering (the most convenient ordering app in the country), Distribution (availability of food across different cities) and Fulfilment (Delivery through the company’s own logistics or delivery boys). With the current funding from diverse sources, ABC plans to expand significantly to make its presence felt pan-India. With its wide assortment of sumptuous meals from breakfast to dinner, delivered to customers at any time of the day; ABC aims to become the best-in-class ‘Food on Demand’ business in the country. With rapid and exponential growth, ABC is striving to embrace new technologies to manage its growing business seamlessly and offer better customer service. ABC was using legacy Point of Sale (POS) system for store sales and inventory management, whereas for finance and accounting, the fast food chain was exclusively dependent on the custom-built accounting software. Challenges faced with the custom-built accounting software were Low or substandard data security; No provision of modifying journal, vouchers; Lack of web-based functionality. Challenges faced with the POS were poor data flow between host and store systems hindering real-time data access; Rising maintenance costs ; Integration issues with new hardware or applications; Connectivity problems; Extensive training; Complex set-up of network connections, software and hardware to name a few. Swiftly growing operations and the need to manage surplus transactions occurring at multiple locations called for a comprehensive and faster ERP system. As the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), what are the factors that you will keep in mind to ensure a successful ERP implementation for your organization? (10 marks)
